Logan Square seamlessly blends the past with the present: historic streets and landmarks, largely unchanged in the last 100 years, still exist in a community thats now a cultural and artistic enclave for young adults who have embraced the bohemian lifestyle. Maggie Laubscher incorporates that eclectic neighborhood vibe into her own wardrobe by mixing vintage with modern, and high-end with low-end pieces.
Outfit:
Your neighborhood in three words: “Local. Organic. Hip.”
Neighborhood inspiration: “Every day when I walk to work, I walk to the Logan Square Blue Line [stop], and I see artists walking past, band members walking past, and people escaping the 9-to-5 and finding their own style.”
Style inspiration: “Indie movies, The Sartorialist, Ashley Olsen.”
Favorite place to shop: “Second-hand shops along Milwaukee and North Avenue[s] in Wicker Park; For jeans and basics Ill do Filenes Basement or Nordstrom Rack. And for vintage, I go to Etsy.com. I like getting stuff at Nordstrom Rack and mixing it up with something from a thrift store. Even stuff from Target.”
For best finds: “For accessories, Wolfbait in Logan Square is amazing. Theyre all local designers. Its kind of like Etsy, but a retail store.”
Your Chicago secret: The Whistler in Logan Square. “Amazing mixologists work there and create these one-of-a-kind drinks for you. And it has an awesome back garden and live music.”
